Pride 2023 - Books and Authors Day 27 - Hitman vs. Hitman

Hello and welcome to Day 27 of 30 Days of Pride - Books and Authors!

For Pride Month 2023, I’m sharing some of the fabulous books and authors I’ve discovered featuring LGBTQ or LGBTQ-friendly characters or written by LGBTQ or LGBTQ-friendly authors.

I love action movies, so why not combine some action with a good enemies-to-lovers romance? So what if they're trying to kill each other.

Literally.

The Hitman vs. Hitman series, co-authored by Cari Z and L.A. Witt, is great fun! Pretty sure it was only supposed to be a book or two, but new books keep appearing, and well - I can't say no. Besides, it would be rude not to read them, right?

Oh, and their Facebook posts, while they're writing are entertaining, too.

"I just beat up one of the characters."

"Great. I just set you up for a car chase."

Okay fine. They might not be exact quotes, but... you get the idea.

This is a 5-book series that features the same two assassins throughout. It's got a lot of action and plenty of humor, and, oh yes, tons of steam. I listened to these - all of which are narrated by the fabulous voice artist Michael Farraiuolo, who narrates so many of Witt's books. His ability to narrate in various accents is put to the test with these books, too, so it's a super fun listen.

From Hitman vs. Hitman's blurb:
Hitman vs Hitman is a standalone gay romantic suspense featuring two men who’d rather chew glass than fall for each other, a whole lot of inappropriate comments, and some buttons that will need resewing.

Pride 2023 - Books and Authors Day 20 - A Guy Walks Into My Bar

Hello and welcome to Day 20 of 30 Days of Pride - Books and Authors!

For Pride Month 2023, I’m sharing some of the fabulous books and authors I’ve discovered featuring LGBTQ or LGBTQ-friendly characters or written by LGBTQ or LGBTQ-friendly authors.

Today we're crossing the pond to merry ol' England. London is a fabulous city in real life, so if you ever have an opportunity to visit, by all means, please do so. In the meantime, A Guy Walks Into My Bar by Lauren Blakely is far more budget-friendly, and you won't be tired at the end of the day.

While the title may sound like a lead-in for a joke, I assure you it's not. Well... it may be the start of a story... Ahem. That said, Blakely fills this low-angsty romance full of witty banter and snarky flirtation that'll have you smiling throughout.

Like many books I consume, I listened to this book that featured Shane East and Joe Arden, along with a full cast that gave us multiple voices throughout by a variety of voice artists.

It's a cute read that doesn't stress you out the whole time unless you thought it was going to give you a break from hockey. No such change. I can't stop with the hockey romances, but it's far more secondary in this book than some of the others, so that means you get to spend more time enjoying a cozy bar in London.

Trust me. I would never stear you wrong!

For more about Lauren Blakely's books, visit her official website

Take care and happy reading!

Pride 2023 - Books and Authors Day 16 - Garry Michael

Hello and welcome to Day 16 of 30 Days of Pride - Books and Authors!

For Pride Month 2023, I’m sharing some of the fabulous books and authors I’ve discovered featuring LGBTQ or LGBTQ-friendly characters or written by LGBTQ or LGBTQ-friendly authors.

The best part of jumping on Instagram is discovering new authors. Sometimes, you follow someone you know. Then, they post something interesting. And then, you follow everyone who liked their post.

Yeah. I do that.

One such wonderful author discovery is Garry Michael. An amazing author who tells some addictive darker tales. You'll want to read them. Trust me!

Garry Michael currently has six books and is in two anthologies. I've read half his books including From the Ashes Books 1-2 and The Reaper above and also Cruising below, and they are so so so good.

Part of a romance-writing powerhouse, Garry Michael and his husband, Michael Robert both write romance novels. Next up on my TBR list is Break Point. I hope you'll check them out, but be sure to have a fan ready because they - are - steamy!

To learn more about Garry Michael and his books, check out and follow him on Goodreads

Take care, and happy reading!

Pride 2023 - Books and Authors Day 13 - Wrath

Hello and welcome to Day 13 of 30 Days of Pride - Books and Authors!

For Pride Month 2023, I’m sharing some of the fabulous books and authors I’ve discovered featuring LGBTQ or LGBTQ-friendly characters or written by LGBTQ or LGBTQ-friendly authors.

Sometimes you just need a good cry. Yeah, sure. Maybe it's a girl thing. Whatever.

Sometimes though, you may need a good cry, but damn if you don't end up getting the most heartwrenching ugly cry that you feel the life draining right out of you. Sometimes you need to let the pent-up emotions that have been simmering a little bit below the surface explode to the point where you're left absolutely spent as if nothing is left within you to go on.

Wrath.

Wrath by Ellis James is what will give you the most gutwrenching ugly cry you can imagine. It's the horrible story of abuse to a young gay man being forced to undergo conversion therapy, and my god is it awful.

The story is technically a romance. A dark romance, but a romance all the same, which means that, by definition, it has a happy ending. So yes. It has a happy ending for the boy, along with a message that no matter what is tried, no matter who a person is, no matter who that person loves, that person is who - they - are. They can never be changed, no matter how cruel your methods.

This is a great book. Sure - it's too long, especially in the first half, but damn if I didn't bawl my eyes out in the second half. People can be cruel. Fortunately, in this book, love won out.

Learn more about Ella James' books at Goodreads. Wrath can be found on Amazon.

Take care, and happy reading!

Pride 2023 - Books and Authors Day 9 - Take Me With You

Hello and welcome to Day 9 of 30 Days of Pride - Books and Authors!

For Pride Month 2023, I’m sharing some of the fabulous books and authors I’ve discovered featuring LGBTQ or LGBTQ-friendly characters or written by LGBTQ or LGBTQ-friendly authors.

Michael Robert is one of my most favorite romance authors. He writes amazing stories that sometimes make me cry. Sigh. But they're filled with complex and compelling characters I end up cheering for by the end of the book.

Today I'm excited that his latest book is officially live! LOOK! Click the picture to whoosh off to Amazon so you can pick up your copy.

It's officially in my Kindle! Yea!! I can't wait to read this but eventually I need to go to sleep since I have to be at the office tomorrow morning. So rude!

Michael Robert, along with his author/physician husband, Garry Michael , are both romance authors whose books I automatically buy. I don't care about the title (all are awesome), the cover (always incredible - well done, Garry!), or even the blurb, but I know they're automatically going to be great stories. Again - even if they make me cry. :-)

I'm working through his books and only have a couple more to read. Well, three now, counting Take Me With You. Here's what I've read so far and each and every one has been an excellent read.

Rescue Me, Daddy - This one made me cry. Michael was so mean to his characters!

Still to read (In addition to today's new release) are The Crow Flies Free - his debut novel, and Landon Alexander.

You can find out more about Michael Robert at Goodreads - Instagram - Amazon

Michael's latest release, Take Me With You, can be found on Amazon. Buy it. It'll be good. Great story, super hot, and did I mention a great story? I can't wait to read it!

Take care, and happy reading!

Pride 2023 - Books and Authors Day 6 - CU Hockey Series

Hello and welcome to Day 6 of 30 Days of Pride - Books and Authors!

For Pride Month 2023, I’m sharing some of the fabulous books and authors I’ve discovered featuring LGBTQ or LGBTQ-friendly characters or written by LGBTQ or LGBTQ-friendly authors.

With the battle for the Stanley Cup raging between the Las Vegas Golden Knights and the Florida Panthers (Go Vegas!), what better way to celebrate Pride month but with a series of books featuring the Colchester University hockey team? We're back in Vermont for this series, too!

Eden Finley and Saxon James worked together for this not-to-be-missed series with a lot of hockey and a whole lot of steam.

CU Hockey Series - Goodreads

Pride 2023 - Books and Authors Day 5 - Ohana Surfing Club

Hello and welcome to Day 5 of 30 Days of Pride - Books and Authors!

For Pride Month 2023, I’m sharing some of the fabulous books and authors I’ve discovered featuring LGBTQ or LGBTQ-friendly characters or written by LGBTQ or LGBTQ-friendly authors.

Ohana means family, and in the case of the Ohana Surfing Club Series by Courtney W. Dixon, one of my favorite romance authors, it refers to a found family located in Hawaii.

Impact Zone, Book 1 of the Ohana Surfing Club series, starts with Kels and Anders in Impact Zone, setting the tone for the entire series. Kels and his father take in and stand up for foster kids who would otherwise land in jail or be turned back out on the street. When tragedy strikes, Anders shows his true feelings and takes care of him in a way he never expected.

The next three books feature the kids-turned-adults who were taken in by Kels and the Ohana Surfing Club. It's Hawaii - you must have surfing!

This series features Dixon's final M/F romance in Pura Vida, featuring Mateo and Lucy. She now writes exclusive M/M romances, allowing Double Up and No Man's Land to close out the series.

Double Up - swoon - with Zayden and Noah is my favorite book of the four. I absolutely adore those two, even if she is mean to Noah. (Yes. I'm giving her dirty looks right now! Don't worry. She's used to it.)

Her latest release is No Man's Land which follows Levi and Ash, a.k.a. Mr. Carter, possibly the most heartwrenching and the steamiest of all the books.

The Ohana Surfing Club Series is available on Amazon and can also be found on Goodreads.

Courtney W. Dixon is the author of a dozen dark romance novels, starting with The Kings of Boston, a Mafia romance series. Watch for The Death Bringer, the first in her new The District series.

Pride 2023 - Books and Authors Day 4 - World of True North

Hello and welcome to Day 4 of 30 Days of Pride - Books and Authors!

For Pride Month 2023, I’m sharing some of the fabulous books and authors I’ve discovered featuring LGBTQ or LGBTQ-friendly characters or written by LGBTQ or LGBTQ-friendly authors.

Ever been to Vermont? You know the place. It's home to Ben & Jerry's, maple syrup, (I know, Canada. I know. Work with me here), gorgeous autumn colors, delicious cheddar cheese, and Bernie Sanders.

How do I know this? Well - I read. OK fine. So I've never actually been to Vermont. It's one of three states on this side of the Mississippi that I have yet to visit, along with New Hampshire and Maine. I'm working on it. Sheesh! Make my book, Wayward Guilt, a best-seller, and I'll book my B&B tour of New England.

Sigh. That really does sound nice, doesn't it? :-)

Back to reality. In the meantime, I love visiting Vermont thanks to some amazing writing that started with the talented and best-selling author, Sarina Bowen. She created what is known in the literary world as The World of True North. In other words, she had a fabulous story that included an amazing idea that has taken off thanks to a fabulous book series or two known as Vino & Veritas, an inclusive wine bar and book store. I wonder if it's become a real place since her books have been published!

So welcome to the World of True North, located in and around Burlington, Vermont, where you can read dozens of standalone romance novels by a large variety of authors. Bowen’s World of True North is the perfect place to start if you’re new to the world of LGBTQ romance (primarily M/M Romance) or if you’re looking to sample the writing of new-to-you authors.

I plan to post about the Vino & Veritas series, which has a good 20 or so books in all, but in addition to that series, are the Moo U, the In Vino & Veritas (as opposed to simply Vino & Veritas - seriously, don't fight it. You'll want more.), and the Busy Bean, and  Speakeasy series set in nearby Colebury.

I’ve made it through the Vino & Veritas series of approximately 20 books and the In Vino & Veritas series of 6 books. I’m working my way through her other series as well and I have yet to find any books that aren’t terrific reads.

Click the link below to learn more about these series.

The World of True North

Sarina Bowen even separates out all the books by trope. See? It's a romance reader's dream come true.

If you're new to gay romance, this is the ideal world to sample many talented authors out there. The vast majority of these books are all male/male romances, though at least two in the original Vino & Veritas series are female/female romances. While this world was originally created by Sarina Bowen, each book is written by a different romance author, so it's a reader's dream come true. You get to try different authors with a few repeats along the way.

The best part is that while there are a few overlapping characters to maintain the continuity of the setting, each book acts as a standalone, so you can start anywhere.

Visit Sarina Bowen's official website to learn more about all her books in these and other series. If you're looking to make a deep dive into an author's bibliography, you can't go wrong.

Take care, and happy reading!

Pride 2023 - Books and Authors Day 2 - Evie McGlynn

Hello and Happy Pride!

UPDATE June 2024: Evie McGlynn now has 4 books out! Sunrise just came out so I haven't yet read it, but the others are all fantastic. Starlight - swoon!

Here's my original post:

For Pride Month 2023, I’d like to share some of the fabulous books and authors I’ve discovered when I started reading novels featuring LGBTQ or LGBTQ-friendly characters or written by LGBTQ or LGBTQ-friendly authors back during my furlough during the 2020 lockdown.

For Day 2, I'd like to introduce you to Evie McGlynn!

Evie McGlynn is a writer who raised a family, went back to school for a Master's Degree, then started writing novels. She's the author of Moonlight, her debut novel in the Down the Shore series of romance novels. It's a fantastic novel filled with music that hits you in all the feels!

From the blurb:

I was the most sought-after concert pianist in the world. Now I barely leave my apartment. Injury and addiction have taken their toll, and I can't seem to get my life back on track.

My best friend wants to send me on a month-long vacation to the Moonlight Inn to get ready to play for his wedding. In New Jersey. The place where I almost died. My friends think I should get “hot and heavy” at the Jersey shore, but I just want to be able to perform again.

I didn’t anticipate meeting someone like Sean O’Neil, the owner of Moonlight Inn. He’s down-to-earth and kind, and when I’m with him, I feel unaccountably safe. His quiet encouragement helps me conquer my fears and get back in front of an audience.

As my confidence grows, the world I thought closed to me, opens once more. Word spreads of my return, and people from around the globe are asking me to play for them. At last, I can get back to doing what I love most.

But the luster of touring dulls when a tragedy in Sean’s life prevents him from joining me. Will I have to choose between the career I love and the man who holds my heart?

McGlynn has more novels in the works such as Sunset and Starlight. Watch for their releases on her Official Website

Links to Moonlight can be found at  Amazon - Goodreads - Bookbub

I hope you'll check out her book. I'm sure you'll enjoy her writing as much as I did!

Take care, and happy reading!
